February 2007

This year, our Nevada Southern Railway excursion train
began operation on the first weekend of February.
Our end of season was only six weeks ago - it is amazing
how much you can forget in that short period of time.

Student engineer Bonnie begins the inspections needed
before starting and running the locomotive.

The second week, we were invited to stay with some friends (Jack & Carol) on their boat near Puerto Vallarta Mexico.  The morage was actually at Paridise Village in Nuevo Vallarta, just a little north of PV.  We had a week of great weather.

The view from the back deck was spectacular!

Most of the time, we just relaxed around the area - walks on the beach and swimming in the pools and hot tubs.
And then for something completely different, we went on a Canopy Tour.  It was a series of 15 zip lines in the tree tops crossing
the terrain and river.  The highest was 140 meters (about 450 feet) above the ground.  The longest was almost 500 meters (about
1600 feet, or 3 tenths of a mile).  If you look really really carefully in the third photo, you can see the landing platform and the
fellow standing there to help us with the pully.
